The purpose of SLT in a school is to help teachers grow. SLT's own growth is key - they must be learners themselves. 'The leader's #1priority is to create the setting in which everyone grows.'
Learners learn best when it is developmentally appropriate.
Staff meetings should be meetings about learning.
Leadership is about relationships.
Leaders need more collaboration, distributed intelligence (we are not limited by what's in our skin - there are ways of finding out more), and to focus on EQ (emotional intelligence).
Culture of Collegiality HEAL - H: hiring, E: expectations, A: administrators (SLT) need to adbicate, assign and accept responsibility, L: Learning.
